Former Westlife member Mark Feehily is reported to be working on a `soulful' autobiographical electronic album which he plans to perform for the first time at a gig in London in March of next year.

Dublin newspaper The Herald reports that the 34-year-old Sligo man, who was often singled out as the boyband's best singer, is said to be taking a darker, Sam Smith like approach to solo material and is working with `big names' in the music industry.

"There's a lot to be said for working with some of the most successful producers in the business," Feehily said. "But at the same time there's a real excitement that comes from working with some of the hottest up-and-coming talents."

"It's more daunting to write and perform songs that are autobiographical," he added. "I tend to write more when I'm feeling down or when something bad happens as it can be the only way to express myself.

"I'm really looking forward to sharing the new songs with the fans."
