Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons have been cast in the second season of Fargo.
The first series of the popular FX show starred Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, Billy Bob Thornton and Colin Hanks and was inspired by the 1996 Coen brothers film of the same name.
The new episodes will be set nearly 30 years before the events of season one and will revisit the 1979 Sioux Fall incident when Molly's (Tolman) father Lou Solverson (Keith Carradine) was a state trooper.
Dunst will play a small town beautician named Peggy Blomquist, who dreams of a more adventurous life, while Breaking Bad star Plemons will be her husband Ed, a butcher's assistant who struggles to understand his wife's desires.
Noah Hawley returns as the showrunner, while Joel and Ethan Coen will executive produce the project.
Production on the second season will begin in January, with the 10-episode second series set to debut on FX in autumn 2015.
