Vincent Caprani describes himself as a vulgar versifier, but he is also a renowned writer and story teller on the Dublin scene. He performs at the Clé club in Dublin’s Liberty Hall on Wednesday 17 next.
Nicknamed The Garlic Pimpernel, Caprani has written two books of what he unashamedly describes as 'doggerel'. He has written a number of guide books, a novel under his own name, and three Gothic novels under the pen name Charlotte Massey.
He has been compared indeed to the Dublin street balladeer, Zozimus. On Wednesday night next, he will read from his collection and recall stories from his days as a master printer.
Proceedings begin with a mulled wine reception from 7.30pm, with patrons invited to supprt Presents for All, the annual Christmas appeal of DePaul Ireland, a service of support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This year's list of service users included more than 300 men, women and children.
An Fear A Tí, Seamus Dooley will be sure to stoke up a Christmas house party atmosphere, and all are welome to sing, play music, recite and celebrate. Admission €5. No booking required
