Judi Dench has said she "wasn't prepared" to find love again after losing her husband to lung cancer in 2001.
The actress, who is now in a relationship with David Mills, told Times magazine that she "never, even for a second" thought she would enter into another relationship following her husband Michael Williams' death 13 years ago.
Dench said the new relationship came as a surprise to her: "I wasn't even prepared to be ready for it ... It was very gradual and grown up."
She added that they have not yet moved in together: "We are much too independent. And he is very busy. He has a business to run. But he is so lovely, with a great sense of humour. Now it's absolutely wonderful because there's somebody who makes me laugh. Isn't it lovely?"
