Host Gráinne Seoige has spoken about how much she is looking forward to the People of the Year Awards 2014.
She will be presenting the event on Saturday, December 6, live on RTÉ One after the 9 o'clock news from the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.
The annual event honours the outstanding actions of extraordinary people across the country.
The TV presenter said: "I look forward to the awards every year because I know it’s going to be an night of emotion, being uplifted, being inspired, and being made to feel really really humble because we forget sometimes how much Irish people can and do achieve all the time and it’s great to be reminded of it. And even more great to be reminded of it at Christmas time."
Seoige shared her thoughts on what makes the night so special, explaining: "What makes this night so special to present is that you’ve got such an amazing mix of people in the one room. You’ve got the great and good of Ireland, and you’ve got these people who’ve achieved something extraordinary during the year who the rest of the population would never have heard of except for these awards.
"And we get to honour them and thank them for achieving something truly extraordinary and that’s an amazing honour and privilege to witness. And the fact that I’m on stage and these people generally get a fantastic surprise when they come on is really wonderful. It really does make the waterproof mascara work really, really hard, but it’s an amazing night."
The star also opened up about her personal highlight of 2014, saying: "So my highlight personally this year has been, a there is a couple actually. The first is we announced our engagement this year, which was a lovely time for me and for my entire family.
"And also my sister’s charity single which is hopefully going to chart very well this Christmas. It’s for two amazing charities, ISPCC Childline and the MakeAWish Foundation. It’s called Maybe This Christmas and we are so proud of her doing this for such worthy causes."
