A new authorised film about Kurt Cobain will feature unreleased music and audio, art projects, and over 4,000 pages of writings, which will challenge the "mythology of the Nirvana star" according to director, Brett Morgan.
Montage of Heck, which is named after a 1988 mixtape made by Cobain, will air on HBO next year and it was made with the blessing of his former Nirvana bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic and the singer’s sister in law.
It’s the latest documentary about the musician, following About a Son, Kurt & Courtney, and the yet to be released Soaked in Bleach, but Montage of Heck is the first fully authorised film about Cobain.
Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Kurt and Courtney Love, is executive producer and she called the new film “an intense yet wonderful examination of Kurt’s life and art”.
