David Attenborough's fascinating six-parter, Life Story concludes this evening (9.00pm BBC One), while the crime drama series, Corp + Anam returns on TG4 at 9.30pm. Kitchen Hero: Donal’s Irish Feast (7.00pm RTÉ One) heads to Kerry.
Life Story, 9.00pm BBC One
In the final episode of David Attenborough's extraordinary series, animals attempt to rear their offspring, a struggle that takes extraordinary commitment. A female turtle, returning to the island where she was born 30 years ago, hauls herself up the beach to lay her eggs in a safe place above the tide line. But her dedication may prove her undoing. The low tide traps her on the island behind a wall of coral. If she cannot climb over it the heat of the sun will kill her. Just like a typical Irish mammy, a mother bonobo chimpanzee lavishes care on her son for five years, deep in the Congo forest. Their bond will endure for the rest of her life. She will teach him how to survive in the jungle. One of her most important lessons is showing him a hidden forest pool where they harvest lilies rich in minerals essential for their good health. And quite possibly dong a big black bag of his washing every second weekend.

Donal Skehan heads to Kerry this week and uses delicious local produce to prepare his Feast in Ballintaggart House on the Dingle Peninsula. Using beef from Ashes Butchers, mussels from Glenbeigh Shellfish and Murphy’s Ice-Cream, Donal prepares a menu which includes: baked mussel risotto with potatoes, braised beef short ribs with red wine. For yummy afters, he’s got treacle mini sticky toffee pudding and baked Alaska. Just stop me there.

Corp + Anam, 9.30pm TG4
This gritty and unflinching crime drama has become a minor breakout hit and deservedly so. It returns for a new series ans we find dogged Detrective Mac Iarnáin investigates the brutal assault of a young foreign woman, discovering that the perpetrator, a serial offender, was given bail by a corrupt judge in spite of Garda appeals to remand him in custody. Pressure mounts on Cathal as he’s implicated in her death. Desperate to clear his name, Cathal is forced to endanger those closest to him as he gets sucked in to a deadly game of cat and mouse with a dangerous sociopath.
