Some sequences for the eagerly-awaited 24th James Bond adventure are to be filmed in Rome next year.

The Hollywood Reporter says that production on the new 007 film, Daniel Craig's fourth, will begin at Pinewood Shepperton studios outside London in the coming weeks.

Skyfall director Sam Mendes will once again direct.

Italian news agency ANSA said that three key action sequences would be shot in the Italian capital, with night-time car chases on the filming schedule.

ANSA also reported that other scenes would be shot outside Rome in the Royal Palace of Caserta.

Production in Italy is reportedly scheduled to take place between February 19 and March 12, 2015.

The film is due for release on Friday October 23, 2015.
