"You stupid boy!"? We don't think so - Ian Lavender, who played the original gormless Private Frank Pike in beloved BBC wartime comedy Dad's Army, will make a cameo appearance in the forthcoming movie remake of the show.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the 68-year-old star will appear alongside Bill Nighy, Mark Gatiss and Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison in the film.
In the new move, Lavender, who excelled as the naive Pike will play an officer in the movie, although his higher rank doesn't mean he will be any smarter.
Lavender played Frank Pike, the youngest member of the Home Guard platoon, in all nine series of Dad's Army between 1968 and 1977.
The original role will now be played by Blake Harrison, who was the equally gormless Neil in The Inbetweeners.
The Dad's Army movie will see the Walmington-on-Sea platoon deal with a visiting journalist and a German spy as World War II draws to its conclusion.
The film, due out next year, also stars Toby Jones as the bumptious Captain Mainwaring, Bill Nighy as world-weary patrician Sergeant Wilson, Michael Gambon as genteel old duffer Private Godfrey, Mark Gatiss as the Vicar and Catherine Zeta-Jones as journalist Rose Winters.
