Funnyman Lee Evans has announced his retirement from comedy.

The 50-year-old stand-up star revealed that he will bow out from the comedy world after his Monster UK tour ends later this month, to spend more time with his family.

Speaking on Jonathan Ross's chats show, due to air on Saturday, Evans said, "I am 50. I am frigging knackered. This is it. Finished. This is the end. I am not doing anything."

Explaining his decision, he said, "Well my manager [Addison Creswell] died last year. All I have ever done is work and Addison always used to put his arm around me and say, 'Don't worry, I will look after you, it is okay'.

"My dad always said to me, 'You have got to work' so I constantly worked and did comedy tours. And I think I have ignored for far too long my missus.

"And I want to spend a lot more time with her. I am going to go and see my wife, be home and say, 'I'm yours'."

Evans will play his final show at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on Sunday, November 30.
