The BBC has confirmed that EastEnders star Ben Hardy will leave the soap at the end of his current contract.
The broadcaster gave the confirmation to The Daily Mirror's Mirror TV.
Hardy, who plays Peter Beale, joined the show in June 2013.
His departure has fuelled speculation that his character murdered his on-screen sister Lucy.
Lucy's killer will be revealed in a live episode to mark the show's 30th anniversary in February 2015.
