It has been announced that Irish film producer Ed Guiney is to receive the European Co-Production Award, Prix Eurimages, at the European Film Awards in Riga, Latvia next month.
Guiney co-founded Element Pictures with Andrew Lowe in 2001 and their credits include Frank, Jimmy's Hall, What Richard Did, The Guard, Garage, The Wind that Shakes the Barley and Adam & Paul.
Their upcoming films include the adaptation of Emma Donoghue's novel Room, the Colin Farrell-starring The Lobster, the Jack Reynor-starring Glassland and the Richard Dormer-starring 11 Minutes.
Brendan Gleeson is nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance in Calvary at this year's awards, while Irish short The Missing Scarf is among the nominees in the Best Short Film category.
The European Film Awards take place on Saturday December 13.
