Benedict Cumberbatch will be honoured with the coveted Variety Award at the British Independent Film Awards 2014.
The Variety Award is bestowed on a British actor, director, writer or producer who has achieved international success.
The Sherlock star follows in the footsteps of past recipients such as Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, Daniel Craig, Helen Mirren, Paul Greengrass and Richard Curtis.
Cumbertbatch said: "I am delighted to receive this prestigious award and would like to thank Variety and The Moët British Independent Film Awards for this incredible honour.
"It is made even more special by the recognition of The Imitation Game in this year's nominations, a film I am very proud to be a part of."
The Imitation Game is out in cinemas from tomorrow, November 14.
