According to The Hollywood Reporter, the characters will be centre stage in the latest instalment of the Marvel Comics franchise.
Bryan Singer returns to helm the film, which will see the X-Men come up against their classic enemy, the immortal mutant Apocalypse.
X-Men Apocalypse is set to be released in May 2016.
