Kitchen Hero: Donal’s Irish Feast

7.00pm RTÉ One

In each programme in his new series, Donal Skehan travels to a different county and visits three small food producers. He then cooks three dishes using the producers’ ingredients to create ‘the Feast’ in a spectacular country house to which the producers are invited. Nice idea. Donal starts his new series in Galway where he visits three of the county’s finest artisan food producers, whose names are Connemara Smokehouse (salmon), Connemara Hill Lamb, and Cuinneog Buttermilk. He then prepares the first ‘Feast’ at Lisdonagh House in Headford, Co Galway. Picture shows Donal with Finola Cooke of Lisdonagh House.

Guess Who’s Dead?

10.15pm RTÉ One

In this documentary, Ardal O’Hanlon (a politician’s son, an occasional expatriate, and a fictitious priest), explores the changing life of the Irish Death Notice. He meets Alice Hughes, who transcribed the death notices for the Irish Independent, brother and sister business owners Dympna and Jay Coleman who set up rip.ie and Tipperary restaurateur, publican and undertaker Jasper Murphy. He shares a drink with writer Eoin Butler and drives Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley to his office. Ardal listens to the people around the country who share an interest, indeed a passion, in keeping up with the death notices – whatever media it may be on.

Neil Diamond: One Night Only

9.00pm UTV

Legendary American music star Neil Diamond takes centre stage at the London Palladium for a one-off TV special.
