Dave Grohl has announced that Foo fighters will play Slane in May, 2015. Grohl broke the news on Rick O'Shea's show on 2FM this afternoon.
The band were among several being rumoured as possible Slane head liners and Grohl confirmed that the band will play the Meath venue on May 30th next year during an interview with O'Shea and Cormac Battle.
Asked when the band are returning to Ireland, Grohl said: "We are playing Slane Castle on May 30th next year . . . I probably wasn't meant to say it but I just did."
Foo fighters have just released their new album, Sonic Highways, and are about to embark on a world tour.
Tickets for the Slane show are expected to go on sale in coming weeks.
