Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been cast as Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone's upcoming biopic about the CIA whistleblower.
The film's backers confirmed his casting yesterday (November 10).
The as yet untitled film will go into production in Munich in January, reports The Guardian.
Oscar-winning director Stone wrote the screenplay for the film based on two books - The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man by Guardian journalist Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Snowden's Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena.
Gordon-Levitt recently directed and starred in Don Jon.
