Ellie Goulding, Olly Murs, Sam Smith, Paloma Faith and Bastille are among the new names announced to join the likes of One Direction and Ed Sheeran on Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's Band Aid 30 project.

Emeli Sande, Bono and Chris Martin were already on board to take part with Adele said to be in talks to lend her vocals to the re-record of the 1984 Band Aid hit Do They Know It's Christmas?

Paloma Faith, Elbow, Foals and Underworld have also been confirmed.

Ben Howard, Alt-J and Florence Welch are also rumoured to be involved and Geldof has reached out to David Bowie to introduce the track, which will raise money for the fight against Ebola.

The original song featured stars of the time such as Boy George, Sting, George Michael and Phil Collins.

Band Aid 20, released in 2004, followed suit with stars of the day Robbie Williams, Dido, Busted and Sugababes all lending their vocals.
