While Harry Styles may have announced to the world the other day that One Direction's new music video Steal My Girl broke Vevo's 24 hour viewing record, they actually haven't. Awkward.
The 1D star tweeted the other day, "You legends broke the @Vevo record for the most views in 24 hours with the Steal My Girl video. Legends. Thank you."
While at the time the Vevo statistics were unavailable, people assumed that the star had some insider knowledge and for Directioners, Harry Styles' word is gospel. Last night however he took to Twitter to clear up the confusion saying, " Knock knock.. Who's there? 'A vevo record' a vevo record who? Only joking. Whoops.
"Just found out we didn't beat the Vevo record. But thank you guys for all your effort, the views were amazing! You're legends .x"
While the video may not have taken the record from Nicki Minaj, it has clocked up over 15 million views so far in the week since it's release which is still pretty good going!
