The inaugural BBC Music Awards will be broadcast live on BBC One on December 11 with One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Calvin Harris, Paloma Faith and Clean Bandit performing.
The ceremony is set to be hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton at Earls Court, London. The event will undoubtedly be viewed as a rival to ITV's Brit Awards.
"We’re really looking forward to the BBC Music Awards, “ declared Chris Martin from Coldplay. “It’s an incredible line-up and we’re honoured to be part of it."
Among the awards handed out on the night will be British Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year, which will be decided by a panel of industry experts. Song of the Year will be decided by a public vote.
