He's helped close the great Dublin northside/southside social divide and now DJ Damo of Damo & Ivor fame has hit the No 1 spot on the Irish iTunes chart with his stirring rave anthem, Proud to be Irish.

The song featured in last Monday's episode of the hit RTÉ2 show and has already hit the top spot as well as amassing over 76,000 views on the Damo & Ivor Facebook page.

A clearly moved Damo commented: "Number 1!!! Can ya believe it? Grano's been bawlin' nonstop since it hit da top spot! I'm like a musical genius! I'm tellin' ya Tiesto and Avicii are gonna be on the blower soon lookin' to make tracks with me! G'wan da Irish!"

Last Monday's episode was the penultimate of the current series about twin brothers from opposing sides of the Liffey. It was the most-watched show in the country for 15 to 34 year olds, beating Coronation Street and Emmerdale with over 181,000 viewers.

In this Monday's final episode, blushing bride Tracey ties the knot with Spuddy in RTÉ2's very own Damo & Ivor Royal Wedding. Fans can also expect a true OMG! moment when posh airhead Sarah-Jane receives the paternity test revealing whether Damo or Ivor is the father of her baby. Deadly buzz.
