The Irish-Canadian stage and screen actor Gerard Parkes, best known for playing characters called Doc in the children's TV series Fraggle Rock and the film The Boondock Saints, has died in Toronto. He was 90.
Born in Dublin in 1924 and trained at the Abbey Theatre, Gerard Parkes emigrated to Canada and began his career on The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Among his many screen credits through the decades were A Muppet Family Christmas, The Twilight Zone, Short Circuit 2, Cagney & Lacey and The Littlest Hobo.
Paying tribute, Parkes' agent Gerry Jordan told CBC News in Canada that he was "a magical man and a terrific performer".
