Network ABC is planning a US adaptation of creator Chris O'Dowd and co-writer Nick Vincent Murphy's Irish coming-of-age comedy Moone Boy.
Deadline.com reports that a pilot for the planned series is to be made, with O'Dowd writing the new adaptation and Sony Pictures TV producing.
Unlike the show for Sky1, O'Dowd will not appear in the US version but will serve as executive producer.
Moone Boy won an International Emmy last year and is being shown on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) channels in the US and is streamed on Hulu.
