Sony Pictures haven't given up on convincing Bill Murray to play a role in Ghostbusters 3.

Industry magazine Variety says that the studio wants the reluctant actor to return for Paul Feig's remake.

"The studio gets really crazy about it," Murray told the magazine. "What they really want to do is resurrect a franchise.

"People say, 'Bill, you could get so rich!'" he continued. "I'm OK. I don't look it, but I'm doing OK."

Rumours that Feig would direct a reboot about an all-female Ghostbusters team were recently confirmed.

Gillian Anderson - back soon on TV in The Fall and no stranger to dealing with the paranormal from her time on X-Files - has expressed a keen interest in joining the project.
