Ed Sheeran has said he has felt "no urgency" to listen to the new U2 album Songs of Innocence because it had been given away for free to over half a billion iTunes subscribers.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, the singer-songwriter said: "I think you should offer things out for free when it feels right but if you don't put value on your music, no one else is [sic]."

He continued: "For instance, the new U2 album, I still haven't heard. I know it's there but there just wasn't any urgency for me to grab it. With music, I think people will appreciate it more once they've bought it because they paid for it."
