ITV crime drama The Town is set for a US remake by the CW network.

Following in the wake of a US remake of Broadchurch - which stars the UK version's David Tennant - this is yet another Transatlantic coup for the UK broadcaster.

Dubliner Andrew Scott starred alongside Martin Clunes in the original 2012 three-part drama, which followed Scott's Mark Nicholas as he returned to his home town to investigate the apparent suicide of his parents.

Pretty Little Liars co-showrunner Oliver Goldstick will write and executive produce the CW's remake, while creator Mike Bartlett, who received a BAFTA nomination for The Town, will be an executive producer.

Casting for the US version has yet to begin - but it would be a great opportunity for Scott were he to follow in Tennant's footsteps and land the lead role in the US remake.
