Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood has commissioned Supergrass to finish unreleased song.

Radiohead have been performing the track Spooks live since 2006. Now the song has been recorded by members of Supergrass and will appear on the soundtrack of director Paul Thomas Anderson’s adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel, Inherent Vice.

“I rewrote [Spooks] and got Supergrass to play it,” Greenwood tweeted yesterday. “It’s good, but not very [Radiohead]!”

The tweet was later modified to run as follows “In fact only 2/3 supergrass,” Greenwood wrote.

The “two-thirds” to which he refers may signify guitarist Gaz Coombes and drummer Danny Goffey. Both musicians performed with Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood at a 2011 Velvet Underground tribute following Supergrass’s split.
