Almost one million people tuned in to see how Nidge and the lads were getting on in Love/Hate last night for the first episode of the show's fifth series.
On average 976,400 were watching the RTÉ show, which equates to a 56% share of the audience.
This shows an increase in viewers since last year with the series four premiere drawing in 971,000 people, a 53% share.
RTÉ Player also saw high demand for Love/Hate with a total of 27,500 streams for last night’s first episode.
This is up on last year, driven largely by an increase in live viewing on RTÉ Player, which saw 19,000 live streams, up 4,000 on last year.
RTÉ Head of Drama Jane Gogan said, ““I’m delighted with the audience response to this new series.
"Stuart Carolan’s writing gets better and better and has the backing of tremendous creative energy and commitment from the team of cast and crew. This audience reaction is the highest accolade.”
