Brendan O'Connor introduced Love/Hate's Laurence Kinlan on last night's Saturday Night Show on RTÉ One as the actor who plays 'Elmo the Rat' but Kinlan revealed that all that is changing in the new season.
Kinlan told O'Connor that things are looking up for Elmo: "He's kind of redeemed himself within the gang. They have more respect for him now. They know now that he was set up.
"He becomes Nidge's right hand man this year so he has definitely gained more respect from Nidge and is given a little more responsibility, so the rat thing might disappear."
O'Connor asks whether it's a good or a dangerous thing to be Nidge's right-hand-man as it hasn't gone too well for a couple of his predecessors who have "got the bullet".
The presenter jokingly asks whether Kinlan was around for the entire shoot of season five: "On the first day we could be filming the last scene of episode six so yeah, I was around for eleven weeks!"
