RTÉ Ten caught up with Peter Coonan to chat about his starring role in Borstal Boy in The Gaiety Theatre and the return of Love/Hate this Sunday on RTÉ One. Watch our interview here.

The actor, who plays Fran in the hit crime drama, said of the show's highly-anticipated fifth season: "I'm just excited about seeing it itself! I can't wait. Hopefully people like it. I think it's a great series this year and I'd be very surprised if people didn't like it."

Coonan added that he is delighted to be part of a show that has done so much for the Irish film and TV industry. "It's incredible. So many of us have been given such great opportunities because of it. This [Borstal Boy] is one - to be able to play in The Gaiety Theatre, four years ago I wouldn't have had a chance before Love/Hate.

"To be there from the early stages in something that's been so successful worldwide - we were nominated for a television award last year with Borgen and Breaking Bad - the best shows from around the world - it's quite remarkable that it's a homegrown TV show, the writers, actors and producers and the people behind the camera."

Borstal Boy runs at The Gaiety Theatre until October 25. Tickets from €24.50 including booking fee are sale now from Ticketmaster outlets and The Gaiety Theatre box office.
