will.i.am reveals his surprise at the news that his friend, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, had tied the knot this past July.
They have been friends since Cheryl collaborated with will.i.am on his 2008 hit single Heartbreaker. Since then, will.i.am has helped produce and feature on a number of songs from Cheryl's first and second solo albums, and he even worked as her manager until they parted ways last October. will.i.am also joined Cheryl at the judge's houses stage of The X Factor when she previously worked on the show.
However, despite their close working relationship and friendship will.i.am revealed this week that he did not know Cheryl had married French restauranteur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in July.
Speaking to MailOnline the 39-year-old Black Eyed Peas frontman said: "She got married already? Oh I didn’t even know that!
"That’s cool! I’m happy for her, that’s dope."
While he was unaware of Cheryl's marriage, he was very clued in when he was asked about the newest member of The Voice UK panel, Rita Ora.
He said: "I’m so happy that Rita is the new female coach on the Voice UK and that she was open minded to be on the panel. She’s going to be a great addition.
"We had a meeting similar to when Kylie came and I bombarded it saying, 'Yeah Kylie you should do it!' So [with Rita] she was like, 'I don’t know, Will' and I was like, 'No, it’s going to be awesome'."
