Former B*Witched singer Edele Lynch has revealed she suffered a breakdown last year following the collapse of her seven-year marriage to fitness instructor Michael Barrett.
The mother-of-three, who recently spent a month in the Celebrity Big Brother house, said that she thought her experience helped her to mentally prepare for the show.
The 35-year-old made it to the final of the Channel 5 series, during which she controversially hopped into bed with Googlebox star George Gilbey.
“I knew I wasn’t going to break down because I had a break down before Christmas," she says. "I knew my mental capabilities had already been pushed to their limits. However I didn’t quite expect how emotional it would be."
Lynch confessed that her and her husband “had been struggling for a few years”. She added: “I was in denial. I always wanted four kids and I wasn't ready to let go of the idea that a fourth child was going to happen.
The former couple have three children together, Ceol (7), Harley (4) and Enya (3).
“We decided we should separate in December, that it would be the right thing to do and he moved out in April," she explained.
"We've been years trying to work on our marriage. We did everything to make it work but it didn't and I have to accept it."
