Bette Midler has announced her 13th studio album It's the Girls! which marks a return to the studio for the artist who has not recorded any new material in eight years.
The multiple Grammy Award winner's new offering pays tribute to girl groups through the years.
Midler explains: ''A long time ago I fell in love with voices in harmony. In particular, the sound of female voices singing together.
''There were so many great girl groups in those days, I still listen as avidly as I ever did. This record is a small attempt to honour them for all the joy they brought to me and the world.''
It's The Girls is a celebration of girl groups such as The Ronettes, The Boswell Sistersand The Chiffons as well as Motown acts like Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, and The Marvelettes.
The album will be released on November 17.
