Jamie Dornan has revealed that playing the role of serial killer Paul Spector in The Fall - a huge hit after its debut on RTÉ One last May - has left him 'scarred'.

The actor was speaking at the launch of the second season of the Belfast-based drama in which he co-stars alongside Gillian Anderson, who plays the detective hunting Spector.

"There are maybe not a lot positives," he told The Guardian of the role. "You can't fail to be left lightly scarred by inhabiting someone like that for two seasons.

"I do carry elements of him in a worrying way. I find him relatable and understand why he is how he is.

"There are times towards the end of filming series one and series two where I did scare myself that some of Jamie's reactions were like Paul's.

"You do carry some of that anger and that hatred in you a little bit, especially towards the end of filming."
