Drunk

9.30pm RTÉ 2

Brand new science-based television series which explores what happens when we drink. There are two aspects to the production. In a controlled studio environment volunteers will be invited to drink, and possibly get drunk, in front of the cameras. While under the influence of alcohol, these volunteers will take on a range of specially-designed tasks. The programme will also observe ordinary people drinking in real life situations, filming them before, during and after drinking. Later at 11.05pm, you can watch the similarly-themed Russell Brand: From Addiction to Recovery. Picture shows presenter Eoghan McDermott with consultant heptologist Dr. Stephen Stewart.

The Driver

9.00pm BBC One

Taxi driver Vince McKee (David Morrissey) accepts an offer to drive for a criminal gang, organised by old friend Colin (Ian Hart), who has resurfaced after a six-year prison stretch. The offer of becoming a driver for gang leader The Horse (Colm Meaney) at first seems like an exciting proposition to Vince. However, as the gang prepare for a major job he begins to have serious doubts about what will turn out to have been a calamitous decision.

Her Body, Our Babies

10.35pm RTÉ One

Fiona Whyte and her partner Seán Malone, from West Clare, had been trying to have a child together, since they met over eight years ago. Sean has a son from his previous marriage; Fiona was also married and raised two boys in Dublin before returning home to Clare to be with Seán. Prior to filming, the couple had spent €30,000 on fertility treatment over a five year period, treatment that ultimately failed. Last year they decided to explore their last hope, surrogacy. In January 2013 they traveled out to Mumbai to commission a woman to become pregnant and carry their child.

Fiona –  who was in her early fifties -  was relying on one woman who would carry the baby, and a second woman to donate the eggs. Seán donated his sperm, and so therefore he would have a genetic connection. Picture shows Fiona Whyte, Sean Malone and Shobha, the surrogate mother.Originally screened last January.
