Speaking on The Late Late Show last night, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor who plays Nidge, confirmed that season 5 of Love/Hate will begin on Sunday October 5 on RTÉ One. Scroll through the new cast pics above.

Vaughan-Lawlor talked about how Nidge's "Machaivellian duplicitous strain" has developed through the hit series.

The actor, who hails from Dundrum in Dublin, explained that Nidge "is a master at repressing emotion," referring to his character "dragging dead souls around with him."

Analysing Nidge, Vaughan-Lawlor talked of the seductive nature of his character - his charisma.

"His energy is seductive. For all his black soul, there is in the seams of his character a humanity which comes through."

Speaking about the 11-week shoot for each season of Love/Hate, Vaughan-Lawlor explained to Ryan Tubridy that it requires "intensity and fitness".

He also told Tubridy that he has "an incredible job" and that he feels "lucky to play such a character."

He added: "We didn't know it would be the success it is, and now it is a cultural phenomenon."

The actor can soon be seen as PJ Mara in the much-anticipated RTÉ drama Charlie, starring Aidan Gillen, as the former Fianna Fáil leader and Taoiseach, Charles Haughey.
