George Clooney to receive honour at Globes

George Clooney is set to receive the Cecil B DeMille Award at next year's Golden Globes.

The actor and director has been chosen for the honour which is given to "talented individuals who have made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment".

Clooney will follow in the footsteps of recent recipients Robert De Niro, Woody Allen, Jodie Foster and Morgan Freeman when he is presented with the award at the ceremony on January 11.

Theo Kingma, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said: "The HFPA is honoured to bestow the Cecil B DeMille Award to George Clooney to celebrate his outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera."

Clooney has won Golden Globe awards four times, in 2011 for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, in 2006 Syriana, in 2012 for The Descendants and as a producer for Argo in 2013
