The new James Bond film will begin filming this December, it has been reported.

According to Den of Geek, the follow-up to 2012's hugely successful Skyfall will begin shooting on December 6, 2014.

Daniel Craig is reprising his role as Bond for the fourth time, while Sam Mendes will resume his directing duties.

Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear are also making a welcome return for the latest instalment of the Bond franchise.

According to the website, the cast will gather at Pinewood Studios for a read through of the script in November.

The role of the villain has not yet been cast for the movie, with the film's bosses saying: "the villain's henchman in Bond 24 is planned to be a classic physically imposing character who has several altercations with Bond throughout the mission".

The new Bond movie is scheduled for an October 2015 release.
