He may be best known for playing the Hulk - but Mark Ruffalo has his heart set on a role in Star Wars.

The 46-year-old actor will return as Marvel's Hulk when Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives next year, but he told Collider that he's emailed writer/director Rian Johnson for a job on Star Wars Episode VIII.

The two previously worked together on the 2008 caper movie The Brothers Bloom, which also starred Adrien Brody and  Rachel Weisz.

"My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, ‘Rian, congratulations on everything you've been doing.  And by the way, if there's a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you,'” Ruffalo said.

“It'd be nice to have something," he added. "And honestly, even a CGI role.”

Ruffalo will next be seen opposite Steve Carel and Channing Tatum n wrestling drama Foxcatcher, which is due in November.
