The upcoming new season of The Simpsons is turning into a succession of crossovers.

In addition to the already announced Futurama and Family Guy crossover episodes, there will be another, this time in this year's Treehouse of Horror special.

In a segment of the Halloween episode, which spoofs horror film The Others, Homer and co will meet the Tracey Ullman Show-era versions of themselves, who are haunting their house.

The Simpsons started out on The Tracey Ullman Show back in 1987 in a series of animated shorts, before being given its own show by Fox.

Announcing details of the crossover, The Simpsons exec producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly: "We've implied that they were murdered and buried under the house, so this is expanding that thought.

"If people want a real Halloween bloodbath, they get it."
