Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki has opened up about her break-up from Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy for the first time, revealing that the news came as a huge shock.
The couple split in May this year just months after McIlroy proposed in Sydney on New Year's Eve.
In an interview with American TV host Graham Bensinger, the 24-year-old Dane, said: "It was very hard because he made it very public from the start. He put out a press release so I didn’t have a choice … it just got put in my face."
She added: "Oh I was shocked. I thought at least, you know, I would get a face to face or something. But there was nothing – it was just a phone call and I did not hear from him again.
"I don’t think you expect to find yourself in a situation like that, you can’t prepare yourself or your body for anything like that so I think I was in a bit of a shocked phase there for a while."
Wozniacki, who narrowly missed out to her good pal Serena Williams in last week’s US Open final, also admitted that she's on the lookout for a new man.
She said: “I would like a taller guy so I can wear high heels. I’m pretty strict with my box ticking.
“I look for someone who is honest, fun to be around and doesn’t take himself too seriously.”
