The Jump Street boys are coming back for a third round of cop comedy

23 Jump Street is going into production - just months after the release of 22 Jump Street!

This will be the third instalment of the comedy film franchise based on the successful TV show that launched Johnny Depp's career a quarter of a century ago.

The latest sequel to the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill movie will be written by Rodney Rothman, who also worked on 22 Jump Street.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures and Original Film have started the ball rollong on the movie, but it's uncertain whether Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be back to direct.

The pair will be overseeing the script development process as producers - but there has been talk that they make take a break after releasing The LEGO Movie and 22 Jump Street within six months of each other.
