An iconic figure of the Irish trad music scene, Joe Boske has designed album covers for numerous artists including Mairtín O'Connor and De Danann.

A new book and exhibition will be launched at Clifden Community Arts Festival on Saturday September 20.

Joe Boske is one of Ireland’s foremost visual artists and his legacy of recognisable works include paintings, iconic posters, music album covers, book illustrations, cartoons and poetry.

Boske is also a composer of tunes and the 1997 album, Amara, dedicated to his compositions, features the legendary players Mairtín O'Connor, Davy Spillane and Charlie Piggot.

A native of Germany, Boske came to Ireland in 1969 and quickly became a local legend in the West’s emerging arts scene. Film maker Art O'Briain made a documentary about him called Too Late For The Early House in 2007. Another short film on the artist, Strike While the Irony is Hot by Barry Ryan, has just been completed.

Artisan House, a publishing company which specialises in beautifully illustrated, high quality publications, is launching Joe Boske: The Works, a publication featuring the artist's most iconic works. The book and accompanying exhibition will be launched by film-maker Art Ó Briain.

Joe’s book is available to purchase from www.artisanhouse.ie, galleries and selected bookshops.

The RRP Softback Edition is €20 and RRP Special Limited Hardback Edition of One Hundred Copies costs €100 (which includes a copy of the new documentary).
