Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy Armstrong, is reported to be leaving the ITV soap to pursue an acting career in Hollywood.
The Sunday People says she will be written out of the series at the end of this year or start of next year, with a dramatic exit storyline promised.
However, her character Katy will not be killed off.
The paper quotes the soap's producer, Stuart Blackburn, as saying: "We wish Georgia every success with her future career."
Foote's agent, Dawn Green, is quoted as saying: "She is an aspiring actress. Like all actresses they want to go to Hollywood."
Green added: "But realistically, she can't until she is available, and that will be January or February. It's all very exciting. The world is her oyster."
