The Joinery, an arts and performance space in Stoneybatter, Dublin 7, will close its doors this December after seven years due to lack of funding.
The venue has programmed over 400 visual art and music events and has given performance space to the likes of Thread Pulls, Lisa O’Neill, and Cian Nugent over the years. Jaki Liebezeit, drummer from Kruatrock act Can, also played there earlier this year.
Miranda Driscoll, director of The Joinery, said today: “We feel at this point that, without a permanent funding structure, we can do no more, and have decided to leave on our own terms.
"We are greatly indebted to all of the artists that we have worked with over the years, and to a loyal and committed audience.”
The closure will be marked in November and December by a project that will bring together selected artists and musicians to celebrate The Joinery and there is an album of live recordings of acts who have played there due on September 20.
