Libertines' frontman Pete Doherty has revealed he wants Jack White to produce his band's upcoming third album.

35-year-old Doherty says the band are hoping to release their third album next year.

Speaking on French TV station D8, he said: "Jack White says he'd like to do it. I'd love him to do it, it would be amazing, but I don't want to get too hopeful."

The Libertines previously confessed that they only rehearsed for one hour prior to their sell-out comeback show at London's Hyde Park earlier this summer.

Speaking about their return to music, guitarist Carl Barat said at the time: "I'm not sure if it was a triumph but it was certainly unpredictable, as most things with this band always are."
