The Wire - for remastering?

Despite a lack of official statement, reports suggest that HD versions of every episode will be aired on a nightly basis from next Monday (September 8) by HBO.

The Wire ran for five seasons from 2002 to 2008, exploring the mean streets of Baltimore, as each season focused on a different aspect of the city.

The series starred British actors Dominic West as Detective Jimmy McNulty and Idris Elba as Stringer Bell. The series received unremarkble ratings when it first aired, but is now considered to be one of the greatest TV dramas of all time.

Rumours of the rebroadcast began to occur at the weekend when a 30-second trailer was believed to be airing across HBO's channels.

Creator David Simon is working on new miniseries Show Me a Hero for the channel, scheduled to star Winona Ryder, Oscar Isaac and Alfred Molina.
