Zach Galifianakis will star in a new comedy for FX called Baskets.
The Hangover star has co-written the pilot episode alongside comedian and actor Louis CK and Portlandia director Jonathan Krisel.
FX has ordered a 10-episode first season, which is scheduled to premiere in 2016.
Galifianakis will play Chip Baskets, who had dreams of becoming a professional clown, but is forced to work as a rodeo clown.
FX's President of Original Programming, Eric Schrier, said of the series: "Zach Galifianakis, Louis CK and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show."
He added: "To say Zach's portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can't wait for the world to meet him."
