David Puttnam reflects on a stellar career in movie-making in a special tribute concert at the NCH on Saturday September 13.

The films of veteran British film director have in their totality won 10 Oscars, 25 BAFTAs, the Palme d’Or at Cannes. He himself has been awarded a CBE and a knighthood. His celebrated films include The Mission, The Killing Fields, Chariots of Fire, Midnight Express and Bugsy Malone.

On Saturday September 13, in a concert at the NCH presented by Miriam O’Callaghan, David Puttnam reflects on his hugely-successful career. The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will perform themes from his films and he will recall moments and key scenes.

David’s son, Sacha Puttnam is an accomplished film music composer and he has re-imagined the arrangements of the orchestra scores concerned.  

On the night he will join the RTÉ CO as pianist and and he will also perform solo pieces  which feature in his father’s films.  

Benjamin Wallfisch is the conductor and the concert features the Mornington Singers, director Orla Flanagan. 8.00pm, National Concert Hall, Sept 13.
