Superstar producer and songwriter Calvin Harris has defended his decision to put the brakes on ex-girlfriend Rita Ora's performance at the Teen Choice awards.

The 30-year-old hit-making DJ, who dated popstar Rita Ora for the best part of a year, is the sole writer and producer of Ora's track, I Will Never Let You Down, so has to approve any televised performance of the song.

It was revealed yesterday (August 12) by Ora that Harris had denied her permission to perform the track at the Teen Choice awards show this past weekend.

Harris has since taken to Twitter to defend his decision writing: "You'll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life."

He added: "But just know I had a damn good reason," and then tweeted an emoji of a hand waving goodbye.

Harris had also worked on more tracks for Ora's forthcoming second studio album, but it is not yet known whether they will make the final tracklisting.

Here's the original interview where Rita Ora revealed Calvin Harris had blocked her Teen Choice performance.
